2010 PROPERTY TAX BILLS have NOT BEEN MAILED out yet. Bills are expected to be in the mail no later than Friday, August 6th. The grace period for the payment of current taxes without penalty will be extended to August 30th.The Hawthorne Shade Tree Commission offers the following reminder: If you recently had a tree planted in front of your home, please water it once a week during the summer. A groundbreaking was held on June 28th for the relocation of the historic Hawthorne train station at Diamond Bridge Avenue. The Volunteer Railroaders' Association, the sponsor of this project, is selling brick pavers to help finance the construction of a plaza on the previous site of the building. Residents are reminded that yard work using power equipment is restricted to the hours of 7am-8pm Monday through Saturday and 8am-8pm on Sunday. The Hawthorne Water Department reminds customers that Water Department employees always carry photo identification and display that ID when asking for entry to your home or business to do water related work.
