The HAWTHORNE POLICE DEPARTMENT has received ACCREDITATION from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.  This accreditation acknowledges the Department's implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective, meeting 112 standards for professional law enforcement operations.

The County of Passaic is interested in receiving public comments on its Consolidated five-year Community Development Plan. The County will hold a public hearing  at 5:30 pm on  June 11, 2013, at the County Administration Building to permit the review and discussion of the 5-Year Consolidated Plan and the FY2013 Action Plan addressing the proposed use of FY 2013 Program Funds.  Read the Public Notice for more information, or contact the Passaic County Department of Planning & Economic Development at 973-569-4040.

Since inception of the County's CDBG Program, the Borough of Hawthorne has annually  received grants for projects such as construction of sidewalk handicapped ramps, road improvements and Library roof replacement.
