Cel-Earth-Bration

18th Annual
 CEL-EARTH-BRATION DAY
April 17, 2010

The Hawthorne Environmental Commission and the Hawthorne Board of Education will sponsor the Eighteenth Annual Cel-Earth-Bration Day on Saturday, April 17th in the Hawthorne High School cafeteria from 10 am to 2 pm. A variety of activities and educational programs will be presented. Entertainment for all ages will highlight the day. Special presentations will include Bill Ponder's Hawks and Rizzo's Reptiles Discover Green Program. Other features of the day will be a Tree Seedling workshop held by the Hawthorne Shadetree Commission and an Environmental Craft workshop.

The Ecology Clubs from the Hawthorne High School will be serving refreshments and offering a variety of games for young children. The day's event will also include raffles, prizes, face painting, and tattooing.

All are invited and welcome. Admission is free.

Give Green A Chance

Students of all grade levels are encouraged to participate by using their imaginations to make projects emphasizing the Give Green A Chance theme. Projects must arrive by 9:30 AM and be picked up at 2:00 PM on the day of the event and registration is required through the child's school. Awards for the best projects will be given at the conclusion of the program and special consideration will be given to projects that educate the importance of going green.



The Borough of Hawthorne will have a mobile shredding truck stationed at the Hawthorne High School between 9 am to 2 pm. Hawthorne residents can bring three boxes of personal documents to be shredded. Additional boxes may be shredded for $5 each.
