Hawthorne's Municipal Pool will close for the season on Labor Day at 6:00 p.m. We hope all pool patrons enjoyed the facility this summer, and look forward to having everyone back next year. On August 4th, the Council's Ordinance Committee made a presentation to the full Council and the public on a proposed amendment to the Borough's HOUSING ORDINANCE that would require registration and inspection of all rental housing units. The ordinance would be effective in 2011. If you would like to request a tree for our next round of planting, please call 973-427-5555 Ext. 318. A groundbreaking was held on June 28th for the relocation of the historic Hawthorne train station at Diamond Bridge Avenue. The Volunteer Railroaders' Association, the sponsor of this project, is selling brick pavers to help finance the construction of a plaza on the previous site of the building. Residents are reminded that yard work using power equipment is restricted to the hours of 7am-8pm Monday through Saturday and 8am-8pm on Sunday.
