MUNICIPAL POOL

The Hawthorne Pool began operation in the spring of 1955. There are a number of projects underway for the 2008 pool season. These include a comprehensive overhaul of the main pool tank and a large expansion of the pool deck area. There will be tables with umbrellas for picnicing and room enough to bring your beach chairs! Also for 2008, we are giving a much needed update facelift to the changing/restrooms. We're sure you will be pleased with the effort to provide Hawthorne residents and their guests a fun, clean and safe place to swim. The pool is a recreational gem, and is the perfect place for families and neighbors to get together in their community and make some wonderful summer memories!

There are two pools at the complex. One is a 3,000 gallon circular wading pool which ranges in depth from 1 foot at the perimeter to 1 foot 6 inches at the center. This pool is intended for use by young (under age 7) children only. All children entering the kiddie pool area must be accompanied by a responsible parent or appropriate guardian.

The main pool is a 625,000 gallon (roughly 72' x 220') rectangular pool which ranges in depth from 2 feet 6 inches at the shallow end to 10 feet at the deep end. There is a zero depth entry ramp into the main pool. In addition, there is a wheelchair lift available into the shallow water. The pool has several water features including a diving board and slide.

The Hawthorne Municipal Pool is located at the corner of Wagaraw Road & May Street.
