BOARD OF RECREATION

BOARD OF RECREATION/ DIVISION OF PARKS AND RECREATION

The Board of Recreation oversees recreational activities provided by and within the Borough and coordinates the use of the Borough' s recreational facilities.  A part-time Secretary/Director assists the Board in its functions.  The Board meets at 7 pm on the second Wednesday of every month (except July & August) in the second floor conference room in the Municipal Building.

Dedication of the new Veterans' Field soccer facility at the Kohler site took place on Saturday, May 30th, with a ceremony at the field.  The name was selected to honor all Hawthorne residents who have served their country in the armed forces.

The Borough has installed a LIGHTNING DETECTION system to warn users of the Wag fields, the pool, tennis courts, Franklin Field and the new Veterans' Field when lightning is imminent.  It is now operational.

Goffle Brook Park, located in Hawthorne along Goffle Road, is owned and maintained by Passaic County.
