BOROUGH OF HAWTHORNE CURB & SIDEWALK POLICY
Effective 2008, it is the Borough's policy to repair curbs, sidewalks and driveway aprons as needed on streets where the roadway is being paved.  The Borough will bear the cost of the new curbs, but the cost of sidewalks and driveway aprons will be assessed to the property owner.  Owners have the option of repairing the sidewalks and aprons themselves prior to the Borough's start of construction. Owners for whom the Borough does the work will have the option of paying for the cost either in a lump sum or over a five-year period.  Owners also have the option of appealing the cost assessed for the work to a Board of Assessment Commissioners appointed by the Mayor.
