Struggling to make mortgage payments due to loss of your job or reduction in pay through no fault of your own? If so and you live in New Jersey “The New Jersey HomeKeeper Program” is here to keep you out of foreclosure.
The program’s purpose is to help keep New Jersey Homeowners who have a history of making timely mortgage payments but are now in danger of being thrust into foreclosure as a result of the loss of a job or a reduction in income.
The HomeKeeper program provides for deferred payment mortgage loans with no interest to unemployed or underemployed New Jersey Homeowners who are unable to make their mortgage payments and risk being forced in to foreclosure. The program allows participating homeowners an opportunity to look for new employment or to participate in an approved job training program.
Up to $48,000.00 may be available for a period of up to 24 months to cover mortgage payments, property taxes, property insurance, mortgage insurance and homeowner association dues. The assistance provided is secured by a subordinate mortgage that is repayable if you sell or transfer or leave the property within 10 years of the closing of the HomeKeeper loan and your home has sufficient equity to support repayment of the loan.
If you qualify, the New Jersey HomeKeeper Program will allow you to concentrate your efforts on becoming employed again or raising your income level back to a level that will allow you to again afford your mortgage payments on your own. Application for the program is made on line at www.njhomekeeper.gov
