The Borough of Hawthorne contracts with Tyco Animal Control Services. Call Tyco at 201-652-4554 - all inquires should be made to this line, which is answered by a machine.

Dead Animals on Public Property

When finding a dead animal on public property, call Tyco at 201-652-4554 and please leave an accurate location including the town. Dead animals are picked up by Tyco Monday through Friday only. On weekends, call Hawthorne Police at 973-427-1800 and someone will be dispatched to remove the dead animal.

Dead Animals on Private Property

Residents are responsible for any fee to remove a dead animal or animals from private property. To have the animal removed, you can call Tyco at 201-652-4554 or another company that provides this service. Do not call the Police to remove a dead animal from private property.

Nuisance Wildlife

As with dead animal removal on private property, Tyco Animal Control Services charges a fee for trapping wildlife on private property. Call Tyco at 201-652-4554 and leave a message. Tyco will contact you regarding your wildlife nuisance.

Owned Animals

Call Tyco at 201-652-4554 and leave a message and Tyco will return your call and attempt to resolve your issue.

Lost Pet

Call 201-652-4554 and leave a message and Tyco will return your call and attempt to help you find your pet. All stray dogs or cats will be returned to their owners at the Police Headquarters.
