Citizens Police Academy

The Hawthorne Police Department's Citizen Police Academy was created to strengthen the relationship between the Police Department and the residents of Hawthorne with the intention of teaching residents about crime awareness and developing a better partnership to keep Hawthorne safe.

The Citizen Police Academy is held at the municipal building and other various locations within Hawthorne. The Academy consists of ten training days over a three-month period. The program will include such topics as: 

  • Building searches
  • Firearms training
  • K-9 demo
  • Motor vehicle stops
  • And more

Classes are limited to 25 participants and open to all Hawthorne residents over 18 years of age.
