Zoning Department
The Zoning Department is responsible for administering and enforcing the Borough's Zoning, Subdivision, Site Plan Ordinances and Permits. The staff is available to answer any questions and assist residents who wish to apply for Zoning.
The following residential improvements require that a Zoning Permit Application be made, new dwelling, addition, accessory structures, deck, patio, driveway, fence, shed, pool, hot tub, air-conditioning (new & replacement), generators, dumpsters, and other improvements to the site.
The following commercial improvements require that a Zoning Permits/Commercial Application for Certificate of Compliance and Fire Certificate Application be made for change in tenancy, change in use, change in ownership, temporary/permanent sign permits and additions.
This office also receives applications to the Borough's Planning Board and its Board of Zoning Adjustment.
A Business Certificate of Compliance is required whenever a new business (or new business owner) takes over operations at a given location, whether or not the type of business changes. The zoning officer can issue the certificate when there is no change in the nature of the business. The Planning Board must conduct a Tenant Review in order to issue the certificate if there is a change in the nature of the business.
